This is a blog dedicated to my personal trials, travails and tribulations as a Dodger-Blue-Bleeding-Son-Of-Lasorda baseball junkie and Supreme Fan of The Los Angeles National League Baseball Club who, due to ironic wrinkles in the cosmic fabric, finds himself living RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the freaking San Francisco Giants.
You have to understand, although I was born in San Francisco and absolutely love The City, I grew up in Pomona, California listening to the melodic, disembodied voice of Vin Scully kindly explaining the game to me and stoking a life-long passion for my Beloved Bums. I attended my first baseball game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum where my Dad and I watched the Dodgers take on the Henry Aaron/Eddie Matthews/Warren Spahn-led Milwaukee Braves. I have been hooked ever since.
Once Dodger Stadium opened my Dad would make sure we caught at least one Dodgers/Giants game every season. I was raised on what I still consider to be the best rivalry in sports. Koufax vs. Mays, Drysdale vs. McCovey, Marichal vs. Roseboro, the gamesmanship and brushbacks. I loved it then and I still love it today.
That’s what this blog is about. I now have a unique perspective of the rivalry and often feel like a special operative behind enemy lines. I have learned the ways of The Giants Fan and have a front row seat to their Grand Delusion. During the course of the upcoming season I will be keeping tabs on both clubs and will foist my personal opinions and observations on you, the poor unsuspecting reader. There is nothing more glorious than inciting Giants Fans. Of course, there is nothing in the world easier to accomplish.
Let’s play ball!!!
